Plastic Storage Bins
Out of all of the things that go into designing and running a nice home, few people will really think about the importance of having the right places to put things. My house used to be a mess. Sure, I had shelves and bookcases, but I had so much stuff that it did not matter. There was simply no way for me to get it all sorted out, and so it would mostly go in piles on the shelves until I shifted it from one corner to another. Since I finally invested in some good, sturdy, and quite basic plastic storage containers, however, my whole situation has changed drastically. Thanks to the plastic storage bins, I now have a place where I can put anything and everything, and my life has definitely taken a turn for the best. Of course, it will not do to just go out and buy a bunch of plastic storage bins wily nilly. Not every plastic storage box is the same, no matter how similar they look. Of course, any well made plastic storage bin will work, but the problem is selecting the proper size and shape. You must first, before you even think about getting your plastic storage bins, think about exactly what you have to put in them. How many clothes do you have? What about tools? Children's toys? Then you must estimate how big each of the plastic storage bins needs to be, and of course how many you get. It is simply no good to put all sorts of different things and odds and ends in the same plastic storage bins, so it is crucial that they be neither too big nor too small. While you are learning to organize, you will probably make some bad purchases, but overall, if you view it as a learning process, than you should do fine. Oops, I forgot one thing. I hope that you did not go out and start getting all of those plastic storage bins yet. After all, you have not even began to decide where you are going to put them. If you can get plastic storage bins that are all the same size – or at least that are only two or three different sizes – it will be all the easier to stack them, which will save you lots of time and space. But never get your plastic storage bins until you know where you can store them! |
