Natural Gas Water Heater

When it comes to hating the water supply for your home a natural gas water heater works extremely well. I just made the move from a roomy apartment to a new home and I used to have an electric water heater. The new home has a natural gas heating unit and I have to admit that I am thrilled with the difference.

I used to stress out about how much water I was using. Heating the water for home use with an electric unit was a little unpredictable. I would try to schedule my laundry, dishes and showers with adequate time between each activity in order to insure that I had enough heat to do the job right.

Nothing is more uncomfortable than a cold shower. A natural gas water heater provides steady heat that does the job of raising the temperature quicker than its electric counterpart. I don’t worry so much about losing heat if I give enough time in between activities and I don’t have to wait and wait for the system to heat things up.

If you have well water you may already know that the electric unit can develop a lot of inconvenient problems with the sediment in the well. We had to replace the heating element in our electric unit every two or three months. There is no element in our natural gas water heater.

Replacing an element is a serious production that requires a lot of time and patience, not to mention know-how. We found that we had to turn off the juice to the heater. We had to drain the entire tank and we had to fiddle with the element to replace it. The pump to the well had to be turned off as well.

Then there is the matter of filling the whole unit back up and waiting for the electricity to do its job. Now I don’t have to ever worry about going through that process again because we now rely on a natural gas water heater. This unit works great no matter how much sediment and rust comes up through the well.

We did find that the natural gas water heater needed proper ventilation to work well but this was very easy to install and we only had to do it once. I have to admit that I didn’t want a natural gas water heater at first but now that I have one I know that the flame is superior to the spark.
